For those who want to capture the true spirit of a Baroque city the Valletta Baroque Festival should not disappoint. The festival will take place over a 10 day period in different venues within the city. It will be a treat to all the visitors to experience the architectural wonders in Valletta as unique venues where art and culture meet. The intimacy of the Manoel Theatre, the grandeur of St John’s Co-Cathedral, not to mention The Grand Masters Palace will once again be filled with Baroque music and performances. In all, over 200 foreign musicians and performers will take part under the artistic direction of Kenneth Zammit Tabona.
Performers include Opera Fuoco, Jeune Orchestre Atlantique, Les Talens Lyriques and Arnaud De Pasquale Viola da Gamba Trio from France, Combattimento Consort Amsterdam from The Netherlands, The King’s Consort and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment from the UK and New Century Baroque, a group of musicians from 11 European countries.
Other performers include violinist Emanuela Buta and countertenor David Hansen,who will share the stage with the Malta Philarmonic Orchestra, violinist Carmine Lauri, all-male choir Cappella Sanctae Catherinae and the Manoel Theatre Players.
